Q: What are some common solutions to XL Reporter Errors?

A: Below are some example errors and solutions for XL Reporter.

-- Error: ‘A required COM Add-in program for XL Reporter has not been loaded and prohibits Microsoft Excel from running’

            Solution: Open Excel and Click ‘Tools>Customize>Commands tab. Click on Tools again in the Menu Bar and drag to COM Add-in to your Tools drop down list.

The COM Add-in should now be in the Tools menu.  Click on it and click on ‘add’.  Browse for the ixxlreporter.dll in your SAP folders and add it. (the location might be C:\Program Files\SAP\SAP Business One\AddOns\XLR\XLReporter)

 

-- Error: ‘Security Settings in Microsoft Excel Prohibit XL Reporter from running’

            Solution:  Open Excel and Click Tools>Macro>Security.  On the left tab ‘Security Level’, should be ‘medium’.  On the right tab ‘Trusted Publishers’ the ‘Trust all installed add-ins check box needs to be checked as well as the other check box.

 

-- Error: '8 bit color qty (256 colors) is not supported by XL reporter'

             Solution: Adjust the color display settings to a higher number of colors, i.e. 16 bit or 32 bit. To do so, Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel and double-click Display.

Then choose the Settings tab. Change to High color (16 bit) or True color (32 bit) in the drop-down box, Color. Choose Apply, and choose Yes on confirmation that Windows will apply your new desktop settings.

Then, choose Yes to save your new settings. Choose OK in the Display properties window and then restart SAP Business One and XL Reporter.
